The first event ever to be held at the Pavilion Event Center at Boulder Ridge in San Jose, Doris and Thiago's wedding was set at a beautiful location. As Tori took advantage of the stunning environment, being sure to get shots of the bride all the while, and Sean stuck to the groom, Allen was experiencing another first: flying the drone during a ceremony. An extremely attentive and kind host, this new idea came at Thiago's suggestion. Always checking in with our team, Thiago was one of those grooms who's excited about having a great video after the fact, welcoming our shooters and cooperating with us however possible.
Though flying the drone during the ceremony is certainly an interesting idea, Allen has his doubts about whether he would choose to again, simply because of its loud nature. Thiago made sure to notify the guests of the drone before the ceremony, but it still proved to be a slightly distracting presence. In the future, our team will have continue to experiment with more subtle ways to get great footage with this device. Already checking off another first in the same day, Allen left the drone to fly itself as the ceremony came to a close and had to operate the gimbal. Incredibly, the drone "flew home" and landed itself, a fact that was a bit nerve-wracking at first, but quite a cool feature in the end. Trying out these different features definitely gave us the chance to play with new angles and unique shots and we're excited to see what we'll be able to do going forward!
Congratulations, Doris and Thiago!
