Taking place all the way in Los Angeles, California, a whole flight away from our home base of San Jose, Aimee and Richard's wedding had quite a bit of excitement for us.
In order to deal with the distance, Allen and Tori packed up all the equipment into a Pelican case and carried it onto the plane with them, not wanting to risk any of the more valuable pieces with rough handling. Unfortunately, the tripods didn't exactly receive the royal treatment and one of the two suffered a broken arm. To complete the story, Allen even packed the Glidecam in his own luggage with his clothes (in place of the far too large and delicate gimbal). While in the future, Allen says he would take the approach of further disassembling the tripods and then cocooning them in bubble wrap, everything otherwise made it unscathed. Allen and Tori had made it to LA and were ready to shoot.
Changing things up a bit, this time Allen followed the groom while Tori was tasked to the bride as they got ready the morning of. When it was time for the first look, the couple was reunited as the photographer and our team came up with a few different creative shots to capture their first encounter with each other on the day of their wedding. Just by watching the two interact, it could not have been clearer how in love Aimee and Richard were. The two looked perfect together and required almost no coaching in the composition of gorgeous shots. Throwing in a mariachi band at the ceremony in a courtyard under a vibrant blue sky, Aimee and Richard's day was undeniably special. Even in spite of the many Los Angeles sounds (think helicopters, planes, ambulances, and car alarms), their wedding was a beautiful affair.
